“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” Henri Matisse
Bonjour! I am Muriel,
I am the founder of Muriel Fleurs and I am also the in-house floral designer at Blue Hill Farm at Stone Barns.
My passion for flowers is more than a career; it’s a lifelong connection to the earth. I grew up in a small village in southwestern France situated in the central Pyréneés foothills. My childhood was rooted in the natural cycle of the seasons and the land. I learned about nature on excursions with my school teacher, by tending to the kitchen gardens with my family and exploring the wild-picking wild daffodils in the spring, running through wildflower fields in the summer, foraging for wild mushrooms, chestnuts or plums in the fall and gathering evergreens to decorate our winter holiday table.
Today, I translate those memories and my love and respect of nature into my wildflower-inspired floral designs. I use my floral creations as a medium to reconnect others with the earth and the seasons.
I am a Slow Flower floral designer, and I firmly believe that sustainable floristry and gardening are better for our health, you, and the beautiful planet that we all share. My designs are foam-free, never dyed or bleached, and my cut-flower gardens serve as a vital, pollinator-friendly sanctuary and are part of the local pollinator pathway.
I hold a floral design certification from the New York Botanical Garden and I am an alum of the 2021 Floret Workshop and the Flower Farming School online.
Muriel Fleurs is about cultivating and creating beauty in harmony with the natural rhythm of the seasons. I am delighted to share with you the myriad of beautiful and unusual blooms that grace my gardens, and the hidden treasures that nature unveils throughout the year. Join me on this journey of discovery and appreciation of nature's bounty.
